Theoretical prediction: For o-methoxyacetophenone a analogous degradation pathway as for p-methoxyacetophenone is probable. In mammals o-methoxyacetophenone (1) may be either demethylated by cytochrome P450 to 2-hydroxyacetophenone (2) or reversible reduced by alcohol dehydrogenase at the carbonyl group to (5). The alcohol (5) as well as the phenolic metabolite (2) may then be conjugated with glucuronic acid to (6) or (4), the phenol also to the sulfate (3). These metabolites can be excreted in urine.
