Theoretical prediction: In mammals bromofumaric acid (1), if not excreted unchanged because of high water solubility, will be metabolized primarily by reaction with glutathione (2). After enzymatic removal of the glutamic acid residue and the glycine residue from the glutathione conjugate (3) and acetylation of the remaining cysteine the resulting mercapturic acid (4) may be excreted in urine.
